Artifact 1: Quarter 1 Conference Report
Date: Fall 2009
Reflection: This is a copy of a progress report that I created to share with parents during conferences. Before conferences I meet with each student, having them assist me in filling out the form. Students and parents are quickly able to see student scores for spelling and math tests during the past quarter. It also shows students’ past and current benchmark levels. This is a great example of providing evidence of student learning because these forms can show patterns of decline or increase in test scores and reading level during the quarter. By figuring the average for the test scores, students can easily set goals for themselves for the next quarter. When looking at future progress reports, students, parents, and myself can easily see if those goals were met.
Artifact 2: Literacy Assessment Form
Date: Fall 2008-Present
Reflection: This form is filled out quarterly for each student and is shown to students and families during conferences and at the end of the year. It is very effective in providing evidence of student learning because it shows a student’s reading level and BRI scores over the course of the year. This allows students and parents to see an increase, decrease, or no change in student achievement. The form also provides information about the expected levels of performance and helps students and parents get a clear picture of whether or not the student is proficient in the areas of comprehension, word accuracy, and fluency.
